    • Hola Maricarmen,
Gracias por preguntar sobre la donación de ropa a la Casa de los Pobres. Desafortunadamente, no podemos transportar ropa usada a través de la frontera. Aceptamos zapatos nuevos.
      Gracias, Pat

  1. My husband has been taking food and misc. to Casa de Los Pobres for years, but he’s getting on in years and finding it more difficult to make his monthly trips. I went on-line and found how to donate using Pay Pal, which makes it so easy.

He recently saw an article on-line where some elderly church members from OK tried taking school backpacks each filled if supplies across the Mexican border and Mex. Border agents confiscated the backpacks, threw them on the ground and then trampled them. They arrested the elderly, confiscated their vehicles and fined them $5000@ in order to be released. So now my husband is no longer willing to drive across the border and glad we have our account set up to help Casa monthly .

  2. I would like to inquire what type of volunteers are needed. I am only available on the weekends. Also, I would like to know how if it is possible to sponsor a child’s education or do you have just a general donation fund. . Thanks much!

    • Thank you Mercedes, for asking about volunteering at the Casa! The Casa will reopen on September 1 (the Casa is closed for cleaning and repairs in August). Meals are served Monday through Friday, and the Clinic is open during the week, along with other services. Volunteers are welcomed to help Monday through Friday.

The Casa has a Scholarship Fund and donations are welcome for that specific purpose. A Scholarship consists of bus money, a school uniform, possibly a pair of shoes and school supplies. To donate to the Casa Scholarship Fund, indicate “Scholarship Fund” on your check.

You have also given us a wonderful idea to launch an “Adopt a Student” program. You’ll soon see information on “Adopt a Student” on this website! Thank you for the idea!

  3. Very much interested in donating and becoming involved with Casa de Pobres.
