“The man who truly loves God also loves his neighbor.”

St. Anthony Claret, Bishop

From grateful children who received school supplies:

“Thank you for your support all these years. May God bless you and your family because your kindness with the school supplies helps us.  I thank the Lord because I’m healthy and I feel happy due to all the blessings I receive.”  Alex G.

“My name is Juan Carlos. I am 11 years old and in the 6th grade. Math is my favorite class and soccer my favorite hobby. When I grow up, I want to be a lawyer, but I know that I have to study really hard in order to become one. That’s why I thank God and you so much for all the support that you’re giving us. May God bless you and your family for your kindness.”

From Yosseline — “I want to thank you for all the things we have received, especially all the school supplies and the support to keep studying. Also thanks for your kindness to all of us kids, because it makes us really happy. God bless you all.”

Carolina A. says — “Thank you for providing us with shoes and school supplies because it will help us a lot. Although that is important, even more important is giving thanks to all the people that work here at the Casa.  I pray to God so He can help them the same way He helps us. It is really important to take good care of all the things you have given us. We know they’re filled with love. Thank you!”

SPECIAL APPEAL for Christmas

The Sisters pray that we collect enough money to provide a special CHRISTMAS BAG of food along with a blanket for 1500 of the most helpless families.  (The Sisters will attend Masses at All Hallows Church, La Jolla, on December 1 and 2 to meet with parishioners.)  We need increased cash, food, and toy donations for the poor families who live in the dumps just 40 miles from our warm homes.  In the Franciscan Spirit, Sister Armida believes with all of her heart that “GOD WILL PROVIDE.”

Especially needed now are:

  • Socks, Caps
  • Blankets, Tarps
  • FOOD (especially protein-based foods like peanut butter, tuna, beans)
  • MULTI-VITAMINS

As nights get colder, the warmth that food provides becomes critical for those in poor health. Donations may be left at 6432 Cardeno Drive, La Jolla 92037.  Everything is tax-deductible, and receipts are available upon request.

Help sort the Halloween candy!

Can you help on Sunday, November 18 at noon in La Jolla to sort the Halloween candy collection, that will be handed out at the Christmas distribution?  Please contact Caroline 858-761-7644.  The sorting party will be at 5545 Coral Reef Avenue, La Jolla 92037.

Thank You for Your Generosity

This month, 50 donors contributed $13,593.46. Thank you!  We also received over 6,500 BHU FIT organic high protein bars donated through St. Brigid’s Church. We are grateful for this healthy and tasty food from a local company. These nutritious bars will help curb the hunger of the many men, women, and children who come to the Casa for help. Thank you also for donations of food and bedding, school supplies and misc. items.

We have NO overhead (except minimal PayPal and credit card charges).  No one who comes to the Casa for assistance is ever turned away.
