“Hello, my name is Teresa. I live with my husband and 5 grandchildren, and I take care of them. I write this letter mainly and first of all, to thank God for the existence of this community, Casa de los Pobres. It’s where people receive help, people get food, groceries, and medical care. I also thank God for everyone who works here everyday and helps to cook the food, to serve it, and help to distribute the groceries. And for every person who fills out our pass in Social Services, to all the doctors that collaborate with their services and to the Sisters who also give their time to help us.May God bless them all and give them much strength and health and well-being to everyone who also work in so many different ways in this community.“
SPECIAL APPEAL
Sister Armida says all types of staple food items are URGENTLY requested, including:
- Beans
- Rice
- Tuna
- Canned milk
- Peanut butter
- Oatmeal
These groceries are given to the people on Bodega Day and in emergency situations. NOW is one of those emergency situations and supplemental food is given out daily. One of our generous donors purchases food and toiletries by watching for store specials and clipping coupons. Every two to three weeks, she delivers over $300 worth of food. It is her vocation!
We also need: CLEAN towels and blankets
Medical items and non-prescription drugs and vitamins are distributed immediately. The people are grateful for your donations.
Your monthly donations make this possible. Thank you for your continuous support!
Your generosity this month provided staple food items for many of the poor in the colonias and around Tijuana. The Casa provides scholarship aid to a growing number of deserving students. Education is their way out of poverty. Students receiving scholarship assistance which you provide are now attending university, and younger pupils are excelling in school.
Economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis continues, and many find it difficult to find steady work. These people want to work more than anything, to be able to provide for their children and elders. But so many businesses have closed, and there are not enough jobs. Out of desperation, more men, women, and children than ever go to the Casa for help. Many people suffer from physical and mental ills.
The Great Works of Mercy
No one is ever turned away. All are given food, clothing, blankets, medical care and loving support. Food is uppermost in the minds of the poor.
Caring for the sick, feeding the hungry, and providing other necessities are the great works of mercy and heart of the Casa. We thank you for your participation in these works of mercy by your donations and prayers.
We have no overhead, except for minimal fees from Paypal and credit card donations. Virtually all of your donation goes directly to the people for their most urgent needs.
If you are sending a check: please mail it to P.O. Bix 9596, San Diego, CA 92169 (rather than to our donational drop-off address).
MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS AND KEEP YOU
