“Jonathan S. is a teenager who lives with his mother and four siblings in a little 
borrowed house at the edge of the railroad in Tijuana. His father died 3 years ago. Jonathan always looks for work, so he can help his family. He sells doughnuts and makes mud bricks on weekends. Now that he is studying in 8th grade, he sometimes abandons school because he does not have school supplies, uniforms, or shoes. His mother works making mud bricks to be able to care for her four younger sons. The Casa helps the family with food, uniforms, and scholarships. With this help for Jonathan, he no longer needs to work making mud bricks on weekends (besides, that is not a suitable environment for a teenager). All his family thank God for the support they receive at Casa de los Pobres.”

And thank you to St. Patrick’s CCD Program and Parish in Carlsbad for the hundreds of special Easter bags with cards so lovingly assembled by students and adults. They also collected hundreds of bags of new towels and blankets and food. Such generosity is overwhelming!
The Sisters instill hope and treat each individual with a tenderness, respect, and love that can only come from God.
The undercurrent of JOY — amid so much destitution and illness is felt by anyone who visits the Casa.
During the Holy Hour and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Thursdays, the people chant praise and thanksgiving to God for your intentions and special prayer requests. Please send us your special intentions.

APRIL 2019 REPORT
- 19,125 people of all ages served hot meals in the Casa Dining Room
- Countless received handouts of food daily
- 1,190 General Medical Cliinic and prescriptions filled
- 1,235 bags of groceries were given
- 1,100 families obtained clothes and house supplies
- 440 people personally attended in Social Services Office
- Groups came to do haircuts
- 32 Scholarship aids to students given
- 2 trips to far away colonies to deliver food, blankets, and tarps
- 5 Lent Retreats for children, youth, medical staff, volunteers, and people who received services
