Hello and Greetings from the Casa de los Pobres!
The Sisters and members of the Board hope you are enjoying the summer!
August is a busy month at the Casa when annual maintenance projects are done, and necessary repairs are made. August is also when the Sisters request back-to-school supplies for the children and teenagers. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, so by providing school supplies we can greatly impact change. Providing the children with backpacks, school supplies, shoes and socks, food for breakfast and lunch, and scholarships enabling them to attend school is all made possible through your donations! Thank you!
School supplies can also be dropped off at Our Lady of Refuge Church, our collection site for donations. Our Lady of Refuge Church is located at 4226 Jewell Street (corner of Jewell and Oliver Streets), in Pacific Beach, 92109. Enter the parking lot on Oliver Street. Donations can be dropped off from 8:30AM until 3:00PM on Mondays and Tuesdays. Marissa in the office (white building with bright blue trim) will assist you with your donations.

A big thank you to Addison, Sarah, and the students at Westview High School who collected new backpacks and school supplies for the children of the Casa!
Please note: during the summer months, donations to the Casa traditionally decrease. The Sisters continue to provide food and services to the poor every day. If possible, please consider an additional donation during this time. We would like to thank you all for your continued support to the Sisters and their lifesaving work at the Casa de los Pobres!
